Overview:

ClearBlue Markets is seeking a talented and driven Carbon Analyst, to join our Market Intelligence team in Toronto, specializing in the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM). Our ideal candidate will have working knowledge of the VCM, encompassing a comprehensive understanding of policy development, market trends, specific project types such as Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) and Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR), and regional market dynamics. The role involves translating this expertise into actionable insights and accurate forecasts, ensuring that ClearBlue's clients and internal teams are well-informed and strategically positioned.

Main Responsibilities:
• Formulate and communicate expert insights on policy changes, supply-demand dynamics, and price movements within the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM). Provide in-depth analysis of corporate demand trends, VCM policy, and integrity standards, including international markets and regulations (e.g., Article 6, CORSIA), integrity and net zero guidance (e.g., SBTi, ICVCM, VCMI)
• Own & produce high-quality reports and data visualizations, including weekly newsletters, quarterly supply and demand reports, live updates, and special topic reports. Ensure the accuracy and clarity of all written materials.
• Manage complex datasets, including maintaining a comprehensive corporate climate commitment tracker. Utilize tools such as Excel for advanced quantitative modeling and analysis.
• Develop and maintain long-term supply, demand, and price forecasts for the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM), leveraging advanced quantitative methods and market intelligence to predict future market dynamics accurately.
• Conduct thorough research on mechanisms such as Article 6 and international carbon pricing and VCMs. Stay up-to-date with relevant frameworks like the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) and Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi).

Qualifications:
• Masters Degree or equivalent in sustainability, environmental management, economics or a related field.
• Working knowledge of Voluntary Carbon Markets. Knowledge of other compliance markets are an asset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint. Python & PowerBi/Tableau are an asset.
• The ability to explain difficult concepts in simple terms to peers, teams and external stakeholders.
• Strong interpersonal and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with key market stakeholders and all levels internally and externally.
• An affinity for carbon markets and reducing air emissions and environmental impact.
• Positive and highly motivated attitude with a strong sense of ownership of work.
