Job Description
ROZEE.PK seeks a consultant for Nature Based Solutions (NBS) in Pakistan, focusing on enhancing community resilience against climate-related risks through assessments and stakeholder consultations. The consultant will evaluate existing interventions, assess NBS options, and provide strategic recommendations aligned with IOM's BRAVE programme. Deliverables include stakeholder consultation summaries, feasibility assessments, and a final report. The role emphasizes gender equality and community engagement.
Project Context and Scope
Pakistan faces increasing climate related risks including flooding, droughts, heat waves, and environmental degradation, which disproportionately impact vulnerable communities and exacerbate development challenges. Under the BRAVE programme, IOM leads the Climate Resilience and Humanitarian Response component in southern Pakistan in partnership with FAO, UNICEF, ACTED, CARE, and Islamic Relief. To complement existing BRAVE interventions, IOM aims to identify practical and scalable Nature Based Solutions that can strengthen community resilience, reduce disaster risk, support livelihoods, and enhance ecosystem services. This consultancy will focus on field informed assessments and stakeholder consultations to develop actionable recommendations for integrating NBS within current and future programming.
Organizational Department / Unit to which the Consultant is contributing The consultant will contribute to IOM Pakistan’s Humanitarian, Recovery and Resilience Division (HRRD) under the supervision of Climate Action Unit. Under the overall supervision of the Climate Action Unit Lead and Climate Resilience Programme Officer the consultant will provide result-oriented support in line with the outputs outlined below. All deliverables will be subject to IOM technical review and validation prior to finalization.

The consultant will deliver the following tangible and measurable outputs:
• Deliverable 1: Review and Stakeholder Consultation Summary
• Review of existing BRAVE interventions and partner led activities to identify opportunities for NBS integration.
• Documentation of stakeholder consultations highlighting potential NBS entry points.
• Deliverable 2: Feasibility and Suitability Assessment of NBS Options
• Context analysis of selected BRAVE locations identifying climate risks and ecosystem vulnerabilities.
• Assessment of technically and socially appropriate NBS options.
• Deliverable 3: Scalability and Operational Feasibility Analysis
• Evaluation of implementation feasibility, community acceptance, and resource requirements.
• Identification of replication and scale up potential.
• Deliverable 4: Implementation Pathways and Strategic Recommendations
• Practical recommendations for immediate integration, piloting, or further design support of NBS interventions.
• Alignment of recommendations with ongoing BRAVE programming.
• Deliverable 5: Final Synthesis Report and Presentation*
• Consolidated report summarizing findings and recommendations.
• Presentation to IOM and consortium stakeholders.
Cross cutting issues including gender equality, accountability to affected populations, conflict sensitivity, disability inclusion, and protection mainstreaming will be integrated across all deliverables.
Each output will follow a standardized process including planning, consultations, draft development, review rounds, and final validation by IOM.

Qualifications Education
• Advanced university degree in Environmental Sciences, Climate Change, Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Geography, Development Studies, or related fields.
Experience
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in climate resilience, environmental management, disaster risk reduction, sustainable development, or related fields.
• Demonstrated experience working on nature-based solutions, ecosystem-based adaptation, climate adaptation, or environmental resilience programming, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Demonstrated familiarity with climate adaptation programming and contextual priorities in southern Pakistan, particularly in climate-vulnerable settings.
• Practical experience engaging with community-level and field-based interventions, including familiarity with rural and climate-vulnerable settings.
• Experience coordinating with government counterparts, UN agencies, NGOs, and local partners in programme design or implementation.Proven experience in managing and engaging with both local and international organizations in the implementation of humanitarian, development, and/or climate resilience programming, ensuring quality delivery and compliance with UN policies and procedures.
