Job Description

Truist Financial is seeking a Business Data Executive for Risk, Finance & Sustainability in Charlotte, NC. The role involves managing business reporting, analytics, and data governance, partnering with executives to align data strategies with business goals. Responsibilities include executing data governance, managing data analytics teams, and innovating within data science and reporting. Candidates should have extensive data management experience and a background in financial services.
Accountable for the delivery and management of business reporting, business analytics and business data governance including managing of the business data stewards. The role further includes partnering with the CDAO and technology teams to executive on the business strategy, implement data governance and data management, while building out a best in class team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Run and operate the business unit / corporate functions (BU / CF ) data & analytics strategy and roadmap. This includes partnership with the c-level BU / CF executive to align the strategy with the business vision and priorities.
• Partner across c-level executives to transform the business through enabling data and analytics to re-engineer processes, become a data driven decision organization and operationalize those decisions for a sustainable business.
• Operate the business data stewards and partner across the company to implement data governance across key business critical processes and critical data elements.
• Accountable to execute closure for specific business data analytics and data scientist audit issues, controls issues, MRAs, MRIAs, MRBAs and self-identified issues.
• Manage and execute innovation across data analytics, data science (AI / ML), reporting and modeling.
• Build out a team based upon agile delivery to support sustainable operations, business resiliency, execution of priorities.
• Partner with the enterprise data and analytics team to define the future start products, tools and solutions to execute on the business strategy.
• Partner across Truist to implement the enterprise operating model, while bringing best in class industry practices to improve people, process and technology.
• Accountable to build out and manage the business analytics, data science, data stewards and reporting teams that can span 50-200 teammates.
• Stay up to speed on emerging industry and technologies while bringing those new practices to Truist.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree in either computer science, analytics, data engineering, finance or equivalent degree
• Fifteen years of data management experience inclusive of driving enterprise data strategy, data execution, data engineering or software delivery
• Expert problem solving skills and being able to define detailed strategies
• Experience in financial services or payments industry
• Experience in meeting regulatory obligations and operating in a highly regulatory environment
• Experience in building a high performing team

Preferred Qualifications:
• Expert in solution designs based upon business requirements
• Experience in building financial services strategy
• Experience in rolling out business data governance across processes and solutions.
• Experience in data architecture, solution architecture and / or designing enterprise business processes
• Skills demonstrated in data engineering, computer engineering, data transformation (ETL), digital transformation and regulatory program delivery
