Job Summary
We are currently seeking a Biologist II. This position is located in Columbus, OH.
As a Biologist in our Life Sciences Research (LSR) Team, you will play a crucial role as a Technical Report Writer and Study Director in support of environmental toxicology research programs that directly contribute to public health and safety. This position is pivotal in reporting highly detailed methods, summarizing large data sets, and ensuring the integrity and compliance of reports that support our shared mission with our client to protect and promote human health through advanced toxicological sciences. The select candidate will also serve as a study director for DTT environmental toxicology research studies (20%). In this role, the select candidate will serve as the single point of control and lead study teams in the conduct of complex in vivo study designs according to client expectations and required specifications, and in compliance with Good Laboratory Procedures (GLP).
By ensuring the highest standards of scientific integrity, you will contribute to our efforts to identify potentially hazardous substances and evaluate their effects on human health. The technical report writer and study director will support scientific research that safeguards public health, aligning with Battelle’s mission to apply science and technology to solve complex global challenges.
Responsibilities
• Organize and prepare technical toxicology reports for submission to government clients, adhering to the NIEHS Division of Translational Toxicology (DTT) Study Specifications.
• Generate technical reports for multiple types of toxicological studies (e.g., in vitro, in vivo, omics) to ensure compliance with GLP and study protocol specifications.
• Lead and manage all steps of the report writing process including data compilation, report QC, submission of reports to the Quality Assurance Unit, scheduling internal technical reviews, and submission of the final deliverable to the client.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of toxicological research via multiple exposure routes.
• Work in collaboration with other study directors to accurately describe complex study designs, materials and methods, and results, generating appropriate tables and figures, and to ensure completeness of reports.
• Maintain and manage report templates.
• Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure all documentation is accurate and complete, in according to Testing Facility requirements and DTT Study Specifications.
• Conduct environmental toxicology research studies as public health Study Director, maintaining overall responsibility for the technical conduct of DTT in vivo studies, as well as the interpretation, analysis, documentation, and reporting of toxicological results. This will require the direct supervision of study activities and study teams.
• Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience summarizing toxicological data, study coordination, or managing study activities as part of a larger scientific team.
• Profound knowledge of reporting toxicology data according to protocol specifications, regulatory compliance, and adherence to NIEHS-DTT Study Specifications and policies.
• Strong expertise in regulatory data summary, particularly under GLP standards.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and experienced in electronic data review to meet 21CFR11 Compliance.
