Job Description

The United States Fish & Wildlife Service is seeking a Biologist (GS-0401-9/11) for their Michigan Ecological Services Field Office in East Lansing, MI. About the position

This position is a Biologist, GS-0401-9/11, working with the R3 - Michigan Ecological Services Field Office in East Lansing, MI. As a Biologist, you will play a crucial role in coordinating with various partners, including State and Federal agencies, applicants, and local governments, to provide technical assistance in the implementation of the Endangered Species Act and other environmental laws, particularly in support of transportation projects. Your responsibilities will also include reviewing research and reports prepared by outside parties, such as technical reports, biological assessments, and published literature, and providing recommendations both orally and in writing to identify conservation needs for imperiled species. In this role, you will work independently to develop written reports, briefings, and presentations related to the conservation of listed species. You will be responsible for tracking multiple projects and tasks of varying complexity, ensuring that all activities align with the goals of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This position requires a strong understanding of biological sciences and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders to promote conservation efforts.

Responsibilities
• Coordinate with partners including State and Federal agencies, applicants, and local governments to provide technical assistance in the implementation of the Endangered Species Act and other environmental laws.

Requirements
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
,
• Possess a degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to a major in biological sciences.

• For GS-9: One year of specialized experience comparable to GS-7 level in the Federal service, or completion of two years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree, or a combination of education and experience.

• For GS-11: One year of specialized experience comparable to GS-9 level in the Federal service, or completion of three years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree, or a combination of education and experience.
