Western EcoSystems Technology, Inc. (WEST), a dynamic medium size consulting firm with offices across the United States, is looking for (2) temporary, Biological Field Technicians, in Iowa.

Key Details:



Compensation: $19 – $22 per hour depending on experience
Housing: Hotel and/or Airbnb housing will be provided
Other: Meal per diem will be provided
Start date: July 24, 2026
End date: September 25, 2026
Location: Multiple counties throughout Iowa
Additional details: Field equipment will be provided by WEST. Field technicians must be equipped with suitable footwear (rugged hiking boots), and appropriate clothing suitable for adverse weather conditions. Company vehicles are equipped with telematics systems for safety, operational efficiency, and compliance purposes.

Job Description:



Conducting vehicle-based bat surveys throughout Iowa.
Requires diligent management of digital data with daily uploads.
The surveys involve driving a vehicle slowly along public roads using pre-planned driving routes with acoustic equipment onboard the vehicle.
This position includes conducting field work in remote locations, cell service may be limited.
This position may require working up to 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, work schedule can vary depending on weather conditions.
Night-time work will be required. Surveys begin 30 to 45 minutes after sunset and continue until as late as 2AM.

Requirements:



Experience conducting bat related surveys is not required, but preference will be given to candidates who have previous bat survey experience.
Candidates must be in good physical condition, as field work may include carrying of field equipment.
Candidates should be able to interact positively and professionally with project manager and other biologists.
Candidates must be able to appear for work on time, maintain focus for long periods of time, maintain positive attitude, and accept guidance and constructive criticism.

After an offer of employment is made, the candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug screening, and a DMV records check that meets WEST’s minimum criteria to operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the company. A valid driver’s license will be required.
