Job Description

Overall Purpose and Objective of Position: This position operates equipment for the boiler, biodiesel, glycerin and lecithin process areas of a soybean crushing and biodiesel plant. Primary function is to ensure that these processes are operated and controlled in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with government regulations and Company standards.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
• Operates industrial processing equipment and completes regular checks of equipment to ensure that standard operating procedures are followed, Company standards are met, and plant efficiencies are optimized.
• Responds to equipment issues or alarms; investigates and initiates resolution.
• Conducts quality control tests, enters data into the electronic database and operates the computer control system at the plant.
• Performs inspection rounds; completes log readings; ensures compliance with Company safety rules and regulations by reporting safety, equipment, and operational issues.

Additional Responsibilities:
• Actively participates in Shift/Team activities including complying with best practices, standard operating procedures and development, maintenance, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Actively participates in job-related training as required.
Qualifications
• High school diploma (Technical degree preferred)
• Either four years of experience in an industrial environment (without a technical degree) OR, with a technical degree, one year of experience in an industrial environment
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures
• Ability to operate machinery and computer control systems while maintaining compliance with regulatory safety requirements, e.g., OSHA (including PSM), EPA, USDA, ISO 9000 and BQ-9000
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders as well as work at heights; manage confined space entry, withstand extended periods of walking and standing; move manufacturing materials, products and equipment of 50 pounds or more which requires regular bending and lifting.
• Mechanical aptitude, effective communication skills, basic math and fundamental PC skills
• General knowledge of oilseed processing operations is preferred.
