Job Description

PedalSport is seeking a Bicycle Mechanic in Chilliwack, BC. The role requires 3-5 years of professional bicycle service experience, strong customer service skills, and technical knowledge of various bike systems. Responsibilities include servicing and repairing a range of bicycles, maintaining a busy repair schedule, and ensuring high standards of mechanical work. We are a busy local bike shop looking to add to our service team. This Candidate will need experience in servicing, repair and builds on a wide variety of bicycles, from entry level family bikes to high end full suspension mountain, gravel bikes, road bikes and e-bikes.

We have a sharp focus on the customer experience, so strong interpersonal skills and customer service experience are an asset.

Customer service & Communication
• Able to maintain a busy repair schedule, balance appointments and drop-in repairs,
• Help maintain a customer first service culture in the shop
• 3-5 years professional bicycle service experience (preferred)
• Able to manage clients expectations and resolve conflict.
• Able suggest clear solutions, in writing and verbally, with fellow staff and customers

Technical Requirements
• Has extremely high standards for precision mechanical work.
• Comprehensive understanding of bicycle hydraulic systems.
• Comprehensive understanding of bicycle drive-train systems.
• Able to approach repairs with Methodical diagnostic structure.
• S-Tec certification (preferred) or active progress towards certification.
• SRAM Disc brake installation and bleeding.
• SRAM Drive-train installation and adjustment.
• Diagnose mechanical issues efficiently and accurately and able to explain recommended repairs and options to customers in a friendly manner.
• Final inspection, safety checks, quality assurance of new bicycles.
• Able to research solutions to new problems.
• Knowledge of bicycle parts compatibility of all brands.
• Tubeless Tire and Tire Insert setup.
• Dropper post installation and setup.
• Routine Suspension Maintenance.
• Wheel building and tensioning.
• Frame bearing replacements.
• Familiarity with Giant, Bosch and Shimano diagnostic platforms is an asset. Training can be provided for these platforms.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs Minimum.

Shop operation & Housekeeping
• Follow proper practices when using POS / service system (lightspeed).
• Manage open bike repairs and orders.
• Follow all safety protocols and shop procedures.
• Help stock, supplies and parts inventory as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, service shop.

Additional Responsibilities/Requirements

Service manager/bicycle technician, all employees are expected to contribute across departments and be adaptable to support team success.

Must be proficient in English lauguage, and a valid Canadian work permit.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 39 per week
