We are searching for a British Columbia (BC) Power Sector Specialist to join our growing team. We specialize in planning, permitting, strategy development and implementation, and environmental services. We provide senior level expertise to help our clients navigate through the complex maze of environmental regulations and regulatory compliance required for projects across the energy sector. Our clients are diverse and represent a number of markets including wind energy, solar energy, electrical transmission and distribution, and oil and gas. Job Description
Reporting to the Vice President, Strategic Projects the ideal candidate will use their background in project planning and permitting to support the development of applications for a variety of power sector projects. The ideal candidate will have a great attitude, a willingness to grow as a professional, and can jump right in to contribute to our continued growth.
Core Qualifications
• A post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field.
• Five years of experience planning and permitting power sector facilities.
• Experience in land use coordination, routing transmission lines, siting of power generation facilities, or working through land use or right-of-way issues with public and regulatory stakeholders.
• A general knowledge of power facility design/construction.
• General working knowledge utilizing GIS software as it relates to planning and permitting facilities.
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, team-oriented, and suited to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• A Class 5 driver’s licence
• An unwavering commitment to safety and familiarity with safety requirements in the field and in the office.
• Open-minded approach to participating in different types of projects, tasks, and responsibilities associated with a small and growing business.
• Sense of initiative and attention to detail.
Core Responsibilities
Includes, but is not limited to, the following:
• Support all aspects of BC power facility planning and permitting, both internally and externally for clients across project development stages.
• Support business development initiatives to bolster Maskwa’s presence in BC (e.g., preparing/delivering presentations, client relationship building/maintenance, proposal strategy development).
• Undertake site assessments, feasibility analyses, route development and facility layout for utility scale power sector projects.
• Support the preparation and submission of power sector regulatory applications.
• Collaborate with technical and professional staff across the company and externally in completing assignments.
• Completing all required corporate operation and administrative activities (time entry, expense submissions, invoicing, reporting, etc.) as required and in a timely manner.
• Support Maskwa employees in day-to-day business operations where required.

Compensation Package
Maskwa offers a competitive salary and benefit package. Salary will reflect years of applicable experience with a yearly salary range of $110,000 to $160,000.
Location
This is a full-time position preferably based out of our Calgary office located at 140 10 Ave SE. Within this role, travel throughout Alberta may be required. Remote work would be considered for certain candidates.
