Az Operator 1, Emergency Response (Moose Creek)

GFL Environmental is hiring an AZ Operator 1 for Emergency Response in Dease Lake, BC. This unionized role involves operating heavy vehicles for environmental cleanup and emergency spill responses. Candidates need a valid AZ license, relevant certifications, and experience with various equipment. Responsibilities include responding to spills, training, and adhering to safety protocols. The job requires working both indoors and outdoors, with potential overtime and weekend shifts.
We are currently accepting internal applications for the role of AZ Equipment Operator 1 – Emergency Response (ER). This position plays a critical role in operating and maintaining heavy vehicles and equipment in support of environmental cleanup and emergency spill response activities.


This is a unionized position and will be filled in accordance with the provisions of the current Collective Agreement.


Qualifications4000 hours competed with the Employer.Vatid AZ License.Passed competency evaluation by GFL Supervisor.Operate Proficiently at Equipment, including but not Limited to: Pneumatic & Shell Tankers, Wet / Dry Vac, Hydro Vac, Liquid (wet) vac, Roll-off Truck and/or Trailers Box Trailers & Straight Truck (including use of pallet jackets, dolly’s, carts, etc.).Sewer Cleaning Equipment i.E. combination / sewer flushing units.Confined Space Watch, Rescue & Entrance (certified training required).Certified Emergency Response Hazmat Technician (GFL course).Capable to drive manual transmission truck(s).RequirementsHigh School diploma minimum.Certification from recognized Truck Driving School.Valid Commercial AZ License.Overtime as required.Weekend work may be required, on call schedule in effect on weekly basis.Please note that GFL does not provide visa sponsorship for this position. Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located is required.ResponsibilitiesEnvironmental and Industrial spills.Clandestine laboratory decommissioning.Highway incidents involving tractor trailers, accidents, and chemical leaks.Train derailments involving hazardous chemicals, fires, and site safety.Marine operations mostly regarding fuel spills into open bodies of water.
