Job Description
Sandia National Laboratories is seeking an Atmospheric Scientist in Albuquerque, NM. The role involves conducting atmospheric research, designing projects, and utilizing numerical models like WRF and CAMx. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science or a related field, with expertise in atmospheric physics, chemistry, and aerosol science. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential. The position offers a salary range of $70K–$100K annually.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Atmospheric Scientist to join the team at Sandia National Laboratories! In this role, you will be responsible for conducting research to better understand the atmosphere and its impact on the environment. As an Atmospheric Scientist at Sandia, you will be responsible for designing, constructing, and executing your own research projects, and for making discoveries that will further our understanding of the atmosphere.To be successful in this role, you must have a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science or a related field with a strong background in atmospheric physics and thermodynamics. You must also have a strong background in atmospheric chemistry and aerosol science, preferably with experience in using numerical models such as WRF and CAMx. In addition, you should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team. Responsibilities:
Design, construct, and execute research projects related to atmospheric science.
Utilize numerical models such as WRF and CAMx to conduct research.
Make discoveries that further our understanding of the atmosphere.
Write reports and present findings to colleagues, management, and other stakeholders.
Collaborate with other scientists and teams to achieve research objectives.
Stay up to date on the latest developments in atmospheric science and related disciplines.
Participate in conferences and other events to present research findings.
Assist in the development of new research initiatives.
Provide guidance and support to junior scientists.
