Job Description

ING is hiring an Associate for their Sustainable Finance team, which supports clients' sustainability projects through tailored advisory and financing solutions. The role involves deal origination, client presentations, ESG data analysis, and collaboration with internal stakeholders. Candidates should have a degree and 3-4 years of relevant experience in finance or sustainability. Strong communication skills and knowledge of sustainable technologies are essential. This position is remote.
About the position

A growing number of companies are moving to adopt sustainability strategies to future-proof their businesses, spawning the emergence of new technologies and value-chain partnerships. Financing for the deployment of these new technologies and partnership models requires innovative solutions straddling the traditional capital stack. To address this challenge, ING's Sustainable Finance team provides tailored advisory and financing solutions in support of clients' sustainability projects and goals. With regional hubs in Amsterdam, Singapore, and New York, and local presence in selected countries, we are one of the fastest growing teams within ING. We are seeking to recruit a commercial, proactive self-starter at the Associate level to join the New York based team. This role requires an individual who has strong written and oral communication skills, can confidently discuss potential deal aspects, help build rapport and trust with internal and external stakeholders, and shares the ambition to become a leading sustainable finance partner for existing and new clients in the region. You will work closely with local Sustainable Finance colleagues, the regional front office sector coverage and product specialist teams, and with the wider ING's network around the world. Understanding of commercial and investment banking products, green, social and sustainability, and sustainability-linked bonds and loans, knowledge of sustainable technologies and partnership models, and experience in sustainability-related transactions are all important considerations.

Responsibilities
• Work on marketing preparation, pitching and sustainable deal execution with primary focus on supporting deal origination and execution and assisting in internal and external interfaces.

• Guide and supervise more junior members of the team in the preparation of client presentations and credit documentation review.

• Act as sustainability expert for agreed upon sectors and technology verticals for which you will act as liaison between internal stakeholders.

• Help to collect, manage and analyze ESG data and distill relevant market intel on regulatory, political, and technology developments for client and internal discussions.

• Support and coordinate internal teach in sessions and communication tools, such as contributing to regional and global newsletters, research pieces and organizing events.

• Supervise the proper tracking and reporting of sustainable finance transactions, liaising with various local and global teams for accurate and timely reporting.

• Continue expanding on and refreshing sustainable finance content for continuous improvement of the team marketing slides and databases.

• Support the implementation of ING's global sustainability strategy within the Americas region.

• Act as an ambassador for ING's sustainable finance activities.

Requirements
• BA or BS or a post-graduate degree (an engineering-related degree is considered a plus).

• 3-4 years of work experience in finance or a sustainability-related role, preferably with exposure to sustainable companies and technologies.

• Good understanding of commercial and investment banking products.

• Fluent in English (verbal and written).

• Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
