Position: Associate Professor (Practice Track) in Integrated Sustainable Design
Job Description

The Department of Architecture invites applications for the position of Associate Professor (Practice).

The Master of Science (Integrated Sustainable Design) is a one-year graduate degree programme that has established a reputation for advancing a systems approach to design. We understand the systems designer as one who formulates holistic, data-driven, and sustainable strategies into urban planning and architecture. He/she has the capacity to visualise and develop pedagogies around a systems approach to design that considers social, economic, and ecological factors, and apply them to multi-scalar problems, linking regional planning, urban design, and building systems.

Knowledge of data-driven methods and tools (AI, GIS, parametric modelling) for predictive and evidence-based modelling will be advantageous.

The Department of Architecture in the College of Design and Engineering is ranked among the top 10 in the world, and Asia’s best in Architecture/Built Environment, based on the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings (2024). It offers the professionally accredited Master of Architecture programme as well as a range of graduate and undergraduate programmes in related fields such as urban planning/design, landscape architecture and conservation.

The faculty is correspondingly diverse and international. The Department offers internationally competitive remuneration, generous employment benefits as well as access to research funding for both junior and senior academics. International applicants will also receive subsidized housing at Kent Vale, a faculty residence on the NUS campus.

We are looking for a forward-thinking and energetic professional to lead studios and core courses/electives in the Master of Science (Integrated Sustainable Design) programme. The successful applicant may also be involved in other programmes in urban planning, urban design, landscape architecture and architecture. Applicants should have an architecture, urban design and/or environmental science background and hold minimally a Master degree from a professionally accredited programme.

All qualified individuals are encouraged to apply. To apply, please provide the required documents in pdf and indicate which position you are applying for by 20 April 2025.
