Job Title: Associate Environmental Manager
Nucor Steel South Carolina is seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Associate Environmental Manager. As a member of our division leadership team, you will support our mission of safety, sustainability, and profitable operations at our steel mills.
About the Role:
This position plays a critical leadership role in promoting Nucor's mission by instilling safety as a value with a strong focus on quality and environmental stewardship. You will be responsible for successfully leading long-term profitable contributions to Nucor, while also driving continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
Main Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement environmental strategies that align with Nucor's vision and objectives
• Serve as a liaison between operations, maintenance, and administrative departments to ensure seamless collaboration and communication
• Maintain a solid understanding of environmental compliance, permitting, and regulatory requirements
• Monitor environmental regulatory changes and implement engagement and/or mitigation strategies as needed
• Oversee the periodic review and revision of environmental management systems, standards, and procedures
• Provide operational oversight of pollution control equipment and advise leadership on environmental objectives, targets, and metrics
• Support political and community outreach efforts
Requirements:
• Pursuing a career path toward environmental management and willing to relocate for future advancement positions within Nucor
• Minimum 3 years of environmental compliance experience
• Minimum 3 years of environmental leadership experience, including experience managing teams
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous steelmaking or heavy industry environmental compliance experience, including permitting
• ISO 14001 or environmental management system experience
• 4-year degree in engineering or related environmental, safety, or health field
• Registered environmental credentials and/or professional engineering license
