About the position
The Division of Applied Social Sciences (DASS) at the University of Missouri - Columbia is seeking applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor in Energy and Environmental Economics. This is a nine-month, tenure-track appointment that will involve an equal split between teaching and research responsibilities. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in research and teaching that focuses on the intersection of energy and environmental economics, particularly in areas such as energy market structures, industry organization, and the effects of environmental policies and regulations on market operations, environmental externalities, and human health. Candidates should have a strong background in teaching courses related to energy economics and environmental economics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. A robust program of research and scholarship that aligns with the expectations of a faculty member at an AAU research university is required, including a proven track record or strong potential for securing external funding. DASS is home to several research and outreach centers, providing faculty with the opportunity to develop innovative centers, programs, and activities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate effectiveness in research, evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals, and a successful history of obtaining competitive external funding. Collaboration with DASS colleagues and other faculty members on the MU campus is essential, as is the ability to effectively teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to lead within an academic environment are also critical, along with a willingness to adapt to changes as they arise.
Responsibilities
• Conduct research in energy and environmental economics, focusing on market structures and the impact of environmental policies.

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in energy economics and environmental economics.

Requirements
• PhD in economics, agricultural economics, environmental economics, or a related social sciences discipline by the time of appointment.
