Job Description

WWT is hiring an Assistant Warden for their Welney Wetland Centre in Norfolk, UK. The role involves biological recording, habitat management, and engaging with the public through guided walks and events. Candidates should have practical conservation experience and knowledge of UK wetland species. The position offers 33 days of annual leave, free entry to wetland centres, and a contributory pension scheme. This is a full-time, on-site position.
About The Role

Due to an internal promotion we have an exciting opportunity for a proactive individual to join
the team.

WWT Welney is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to support the running of
this remarkable RAMSAR, SPA, and SSSI wetland site in Norfolk.

WWT Welney Wetland Centre in
Norfolk, takes in 700ha of the northernmost part of the Ouse Washes supporting countless wetland
species including breeding populations of black-tailed godwit, lapwing, redshank and snipe and
attracting mass winter gatherings of many thousands of wild ducks and swans. With its modern
visitor centre, Welney is the gateway to Norfolk and the Ouse Washes

Your role will be
varied including biological recording and surveying, habitat management, estate maintenance and
cattle checks. You will also play a key role in running guided walks, assisting with events and to
promote and supervise volunteers.

About You

To join as Assistant warden you will:
• bring a good mix of practical conservation and engagement experience
• bring knowledge of UK wetland species to support the onsite species monitoring
• be a people person, who can work within a small team and confidently engage with the public
