ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER - WIND

Mortenson is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for the Wind Group, based anywhere in the U.S. Responsibilities include cost control, project coordination, and team mentoring. Candidates must have experience in renewable energy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to travel extensively. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least five years of experience. Regular home rotations are offered every three weeks.

SUMMARY
Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager in the Wind Group who can interact with various staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.Aptitude to anticipate problems, critical issues, and opportunities as they arise; along with the capability to creatively problem solve and bring together viable solutions.Excellent written and verbal communication skills are vital, with attention to detail equally important.The Assistant Project Manager will partner with the project manager from bid preparation through final client acceptance. Will also lead, coach, and mentor project team members.
NOTE: Candidates must be willing to travel anywhere throughout the United States (with regular rotations home every 3 weeks for 5 days). This person can be based anywhere in the United States.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Organization, flexibility, outstanding customer focus, and strong communication are critical in performing duties which include, but are not limited to:
Perform cost control and financial managementWork with Preconstruction on project estimate and schedule
Coordinate scopes of work
Review and compile pay applications, change requests, and other project financial documentationPartner with the Project Manager or Construction ExecutiveDraft client proposals
Contract administration and management
Award subcontractsProvide direction to the project team for safe and timely project completionAct as liaison for project engineers, mentor, and coach others
Provide job assignments and manage career development
Direct responsibilities and guide Field Engineer(s) and Project Engineer(s)Manage subcontractors and suppliers for the projectOversee budget for and make recommendations for subcontractors and trade partners
Lead project buyout with subcontractors and trade partners
Facilitate and lead meetings between subcontractors related to project coordinationOther duties as assigned, including but not limited to:Perform on-site Project Manager duties on small-scope projects
Implement a quality plan that ensures the customer’s specified performance criteria in design and constructionQUALIFICATIONSMinimum five years of related previous experience
Previous self-perform experience
Experience in the renewable energy sector, wind experience preferred
Proven ability to assist with all responsibilities for complex projects
Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks
Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
Microsoft Office, project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level
Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
Ability to travel 100% - with rotations home every 3 weeks
