About the position

The Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University is seeking applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in climate policy. This role is integral to the university's broader Climate Commitment initiative, which aims to address the climate crisis through sustainable and equitable solutions. The successful candidate will engage in research that intersects the public and private sectors, contributing to the development of policies that promote a resilient, carbon-neutral world. Candidates should have a well-established research agenda in climate policy, drawing from disciplines such as public policy, economics, political science, sociology, anthropology, geography, sustainability science, or other related social sciences. In addition to research, the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching. This includes teaching courses that are part of Sanford's core curriculum and complementing the existing offerings at both Sanford and Duke University. The Sanford School boasts nearly 70 interdisciplinary full-time faculty members and offers a range of academic programs, including an undergraduate major, four Masters programs, and a Ph.D. program. The school also houses several research centers and provides opportunities for degree-related programs in various global locations, including Washington, DC, China, Scotland, London, and Geneva.
