Minimum Qualifications

A Master's degree with professional engineering or architecture
licensure or an earned Doctorate in a related engineering,
construction, or science discipline is required by the time of
hire; Related fields may be considered.

Areas of Interest (No Minimum Level Required)

The Department especially seeks candidates with professional
licensure and experience with one or more of the following
attributes:
• A demonstrated commitment to sustainability
• Relevant collegiate teaching experience
• Professional work experience in the built environment, energy
& infrastructure engineering, utility-scale renewable energy
project management, or energy efficiency
• A clear scholarly agenda in related fields

Description of the Department or Unit

The Department of Sustainable Technology & the Built
Environment (STBE) houses three academic programs: the BS in
Sustainable Technology; the BS in Building Sciences, with three
concentrations; and the MS in Technology, with two concentrations.
The Department includes 30 full-time faculty serving approximately
900 undergraduate and 20 graduate students.

STBE has played an integral role in building the University's
sustainability agenda, which features prominently in the
University's Strategic Plan. Within STBE, faculty exemplify a
commitment to applied research and interdisciplinary, experiential
learning. Our students have achieved notable successes in national
and international competitions such as the Formula Sun Grand Prix
and American Solar Challenge, the USDOE Race to Zero and Solar
Decathlon, Solar Decathlon Europe, and the US EPA P3 program, among
others.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of
Sustainable Technology & the Built Environment (STBE).

A successful candidate will reinforce the bridge between the built
environment and renewable energy. Other responsibilities include
maintaining an active scholarly agenda, team-based coordination of
building sciences integrated courses, advising students,
collaborating with professionals in the building industry, and
participating in service work.

Proposed Date of Hire: 07/01/2025

Suggested Salary Range: Salary is competitive and
commensurate with qualifications and experience.
