Description of the DepartmentThe Department of Sustainable Technology & the Build Environment (STBE) houses three academic programs: the BS in Sustainable Technology; the BS in Building Sciences, with three concentrations; and the MS in Technology, with two concentrations. The Department includes 35 full-time faculty serving approximately 900 undergraduate and 20 graduate students.
STBE has played an integral role in building the University’s sustainability agenda, which features prominently in the University’s Strategic Plan. Within STBE, faculty exemplify a commitment to applied research and interdisciplinary, experiential learning.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTeaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the Building Sciences program, which may include but are not limited to: Construction Management Techniques and Engineering, Sustainable Building Design and Construction, Integrative Design Experiences (IDEX), Building Science, Virtual Design and Construction, and Construction Education.
Other responsibilities include maintaining an active scholarly agenda, team-based coordination of building sciences integrated courses, advising students, collaborating with professionals in the building industry, and participating in service work.
