Job Description

The University of Saskatchewan is seeking an Assistant Professor in Civil, Geological, and Environmental Engineering for a full-time tenure-track position in Saskatoon, SK. The role involves leading research in hydrological modeling, securing funding, supervising graduate students, and teaching courses. Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Civil Engineering at the Assistant Professor level with the Department of Civil, Geological, and Environmental Engineering.

The successful candidate will initiate and lead a robust research program related to hydrological modelling and or water resources management; compete successfully for external funding to support this research program; supervise graduate student research projects; teach undergraduate and graduate courses in hydrology and water resources engineering; and undertake relevant administrative activities.

Significant opportunities will exist to develop research collaborations with other researchers at the Global Institute for Water Security (water.usask.ca). The University of Saskatchewan is the highest-ranked university in Canada for water resources research and is among the top 20 in the world. Over 100 faculty members from various departments conduct interdisciplinary research on water, including aquatic toxicology, biogeochemistry, hydrology, and water security.

The Department of Civil, Geological, and Environmental Engineering offers undergraduate programs in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, and Environmental Engineering, as well as a postgraduate program in Civil Engineering at the M.Eng., M.Sc., and Ph.D. levels. We seek candidates with bachelor's degrees in Civil, Agricultural, or Water Resources Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline and a Ph.D. in Civil or Water Resources Engineering or related field. Candidates must demonstrate the potential to develop a robust research program related to hydrological modelling and water resources management. Relevant experience working in government or industry would be considered an asset. Applicants should show competence in and a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching. The successful candidate will be a Professional Engineer in Canada or have the background and willingness to successfully pursue membership with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan as a Professional Engineer.

Salary bands for this position for the 2024-2025 academic year are as follows:

Assistant Professor: 99,945 to 120,099
