Assistant Manager – Environment, Health and Safety (EHS)

Akasa Air is seeking an Assistant Manager – Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) in Mumbai. The role involves planning and implementing EHS systems per regulations, promoting a safety culture, and developing strategies for continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance, reducing environmental risks, training employees, and investigating incidents. Candidates should have relevant qualifications and experience in safety management. This is a full-time position requiring occasional travel.
Job Position Summary:
• Responsible for planning, implementing and operation of Environment
Health and Safety (EHS) System according to national and international
regulations and best practices.
• Develop strategies to ensure continuous improvement of Safety, employee injury prevention, OSHA
compliance program to support Safety Management System (SMS).

Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure the EHS Policies and
objectives are set and achieved by application of strategic decisions.
• Promote a culture of customer
focus and performance management to ensure high quality and continuous
improvement in service delivery.
• Design EHS strategies to
reduce illness, environmental accidents that may affect employee and provide stakeholders
with a safe and healthful workplace.
• Models and promotes an organizational culture that fosters safety
practices through effective implementation of EHS management system.
• Prevent
injury and ill health by continuously improving our EHS programs through
evaluation, review and implementation of appropriate corrective and preventive
actions.
• Reduce
or minimize the generation of waste to the extent feasible through source
reduction or cost-effective recycling.
• Advises management on
government regulations relating to OHSE and recommends necessary action to
ensure compliance.
• Develop and maintain Akas Air EHS
document to ensure regular, effective communication between EHS and departments/employees.
• Monitor and Identify potential EHS concerns & Hazards and recommend
suitable mitigating actions.
• Design and deliver EHS
training programs to provide awareness to all employees.
• ​Investigate EHS accidents/incidents/hazards and recommend the
corrective and preventive action.

Requirements
Desired Qualifications/Certifications:
• Bachelor’s
Degree/ Diploma in a relevant field or equivalent.
• Knowledge of tools, concepts and methodologies of OHSE.
• NEBOSH or equivalent Industry accepted certification.
• Knowledge of ISO 14001Environment & 18001 OHSAS
• Auditor
qualifications and experience.
• Knowledge
about the Airline Emergency Response

Preferred Work Experience:3 Years’ experience in
Safety/Quality Assurance/OHSE
