GAI Consultants Inc is seeking a Assistant Environmental Director. In this position you will oversee a small team and work to develop it, identifying and onboarding new hires and mentoring the existing team of biologists/environmental specialist.

As Director of Natural Resources, you will:
• Oversee a small team and work to develop it, identifying and onboarding new hires and mentoring the existing team of biologists/environmental specialist.
• Drive technical reporting and project oversight to ensure the team is meeting quality standards.
• Develop and maintain relationships with potential clients in the Energy Sector, Transportation/Government Sectors as well as industry associations.
• Attend industry association meetings and networking events to market the company and further the company brand.

As Director of Natural Resources, you are:
• A trusted leader, skilled in mentoring a biology and natural resources team, with a passion for building community relationships through networking and a visible leadership presence. Are excited and motivated to help a business grow to its fullest potential.
• An expert in biological, ecological, NEPA and environmental issues have successfully managed multiple, large, and complex projects from start to finish.
• A team leader – you have experience in building, developing, and mentoring a team.
• Happy being on the road – visiting job sites, meeting with potential customers and referral partners and able to travel.
• Relationship driven – you enjoy attending networking events and building relationships.

As Director of Natural Resources, you have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Ecology, Biology, Fish and Wildlife Science, Natural Resource Science or related field.
• Experience working in the environmental or biological science industry.
• You have proven expertise with environmental construction permitting (NEPA) and can contribute to the proposal process, oversee regulatory matters, and provide guidance to the team.

General Characteristics

Serves as a mentor or advisor on project team as needed; well- rounded with aspects of consulting, industry standards and Company protocols; setsâ¯priorities and reconciles directions from competing interests, required to participate in professional societies andâ¯industry associations.

Education

Technical Responsibilities

Should have advanced knowledge of appropriate analyses, regulation, and study protocols to meet clientâ¯needs.

Project and Task Management

May manage projects, up to $250,000 in yearly value, without GAI President’s approval, but is a small component of overall work.

Management Responsibility

Initiates and manages client relationships; Serves as Client Manager and leads Business Development Initiatives; Serves as an assistant to the Environmental Director; Senior Director or Officer. Assists with the Responsibilities of the Group or Business Sector Assists the group with objectives and requirements; Serves as a leader within a Group or Department; receives administrative support and direction from higher-level officials of the Company.

Continues to manage staff with diverse skills and has aâ¯focus on supporting career path and technical growth.

Communication Skills

Routinely interacts with clients, customers, government officials, contractors, and others; leads project and group meetings and presentations; possess marketing and sales skills; represents Company in a positive light; interacts with Project Managers and leaders of the Company onâ¯aâ¯regular basis; attends meetings with higher-level officials of the company on Group/Department status including financials.
