Job Description

WSP is hiring an Assistant Consultant for Environment Data Processing in Bengaluru, India. The role involves assisting with Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), including data management, GIS/CAD drafting, and report writing. Candidates should have 0-4 years of experience in environmental data assessment, strong attention to detail, and proficiency in MS Office. The position requires collaboration with teams in Canada and Ontario.
Role Summary

WSP is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, detail-oriented, and delivery-oriented candidate who has practical experience with environmental site assessment (ESA), data management, and GIS/CAD. The candidate will assist with preparation of Phase I and II ESA reports. Responsibilties will include collection and tabulation of environmental records, environmental data review, drafting (GIS/CAD), and report writing. The candidate will report to the Environment team in Canada. All deliverables produced shall comply with WSP standards and procedures. This role focuses on supporting Phase I ESA and Phase II ESA projects across Ontario. The successful applicant will be responsible for implementing WSP’s standard operating procedures as part of our commitment to technical excellence, which includes detailed protocols for data review, data summaries and reporting

Responsibilities

The role would involve:
• Prepares cost estimates for Phase I ESA reports and orders background records
• Reviews historical records (prior reports, city directories, insurance records, database search reports, etc) to identify current and past uses of properties with the potential to result in impacts to soil or groundwater
• Systematically retains field deliverables, records and other supporting documents in the project file
• Summarizes findings in ArcGIS using WSP's web application, which is used to store data used in figure preparation
• Prepares Phase I ESA reports in accordance with our standard procedures, and addresses internal quality assurance review comments to the satisfaction of the Approved Reviewer
• Works closely with project teams to prepare field data inventories suitable for reporting purposes
• Identifies data quality concerns and contributes to their resolution by working with the project team, internal subject matter experts and/or our partner analytical laboratories
• Comparing laboratory data with regulatory criteria and conducting quality assurance checks on data summary tables
• Generates standardized data quality review reports for each sample batch in accordance with a standard procedure
• Collaborates with data management specialists with uploading environmental data to the data management system, identifying and correcting errors, and generating tabular reports

Key Competencies / Skills

Mandatory Skills
• We are looking for candidates with 0-4 years of experience in assessment of environmental data.
• College diploma or university degree with knowledge of basic environmental chemistry, familiarity with environmental laboratory parameters for soil and groundwater
• Attention to detail with strong time-management skills
• Experience with databases and managing large data sets is an asset
• Proficient with MS Office software"
• Able to work collaboratively within WSP’s collegial work environment, responsive to project team requests
• The role will require extensive collaboration with our existing team members in ICRC and Ontario
• A strong technical background in Environmental Site Assessments and Contaminated Land Remediation, Due Diligence reviews.
• Excellent attention to details, a professional manner, and consideration to team needs.
• Ability to review documents and synthesize / summarize information.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to work in a very dynamic and demanding work environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

Desired Skills
• Phase I and II Environnmental Site Assessment report preparation.
• International experience is preferred. Canadian experience would be an asset.
• Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, ERDAS, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, environmental chemistry or Geology .
