The Arizona Game and Fish Department manages fish and wildlife in Arizona under the authority of the Arizona Game and Fish Commission. It creates and implements scientific methods and regulations to effectively manage fish and wildlife habitats through conservation, enforcement, hunting, fishing, watercraft and off-highway vehicle recreation, and shooting sports. Job Summary

Under the direction of the Accounts Payable Supervisor, this position is responsible for the timely and accurate accounting, reconciling, and reporting of additions, deletions, transfers, adjustments, and disposals of the Department’s capitalized and non-capitalized assets, profiles, and reporting. The position will perform all aspects of professional accounting work to support the Department's mission and expenditures, including those related to wildlife, watercraft, and off-highway vehicle resources of Arizona.
Job Duties
• Record additions, deletions, UTLs, use taxes, adjustments, and disposals of the Department’s assets, ensuring proper cost accounting.
• Prepare transfer documents and update assets in the state’s accounting system.
• Review and reconcile complex fixed and capital assets, including land, buildings, catchments, and major projects.
• Interpret, analyze, and approve requisitions for proper asset classification.
• Prepare reports for audits, reconciliations, and depreciation.
• Recommend process improvements and coordinate annual inventory.
• Support all accounting functions including accounts payable and receivable.
• May serve as a team leader.
• Perform other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The candidate must have knowledge of economic and accounting principles, financial data analysis, GAAP, government accounting practices, internal controls, automated financial systems, federal regulations, Arizona statutes, and policies. Skills include analysis, interpretation, communication, accuracy, speed, problem-solving, and maintaining confidentiality. The ability to learn departmental policies, prioritize work, work independently, and establish harmonious relationships is essential.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in governmental accounting, APP, or AZ360 is preferred.
Pre-Employment Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required, along with at least two years of relevant experience.
