Job Description

The Architect for the MTerra Solar Project at Meralco PowerGen will oversee architectural design and coordination for a utility-scale Solar PV and BESS project in Gapan City, Philippines. Responsibilities include reviewing architectural drawings, ensuring code compliance, coordinating with engineering teams, and supporting construction efforts. Candidates should be licensed architects with 5-7 years of experience, proficient in design software, and knowledgeable about local building codes.
Job Summary

The Architect is responsible for overseeing the architectural design, planning, and coordination of all buildings and structural facilities associated with a utility-scale Solar PV and BESS project. This includes design compliance, functional integration, safety, and construction quality for project-related infrastructure such as the Control Building, Admin Facility, Warehouse, BESS Housings, Storage Areas, Guardhouses, and Learning Center (if applicable).

The role ensures alignment with local building codes, renewable energy requirements, and inter-disciplinary engineering designs.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Review and Validate Architectural Drawings
• Review and approve detailed architectural plans and specifications for all permanent and temporary structures
• Ensure drawings are aligned with functional requirements of electrical and civil systems of the PV and BESS project
Design Coordination

• Coordinate with civil, structural, MEPF, and electrical engineering teams to ensure seamless architectural integration
• Resolve design conflicts across disciplines (e.g., inverter room cooling, fire exits in BESS areas)
Code Compliance & Standards
• Ensure architectural designs comply with Philippine Building Code, Fire Code, accessibility requirements (BP 344), and local LGU ordinances
• Ensure integration of safety and security features in site layout and structures
Stakeholder Liaison

• Act as the architectural point of contact for EPC contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies
• Participate in technical review meetings and site inspections
Review of EPC and Contractor Submissions
• Evaluate architectural submissions from EPC contractors and vendors
• Provide comments and recommendations on design deviations, material choices, or layout proposals
Construction Support

• Support construction teams with interpretation of plans and design clarifications
• Conduct site inspections to ensure as-built compliance with architectural intent
Sustainability and Energy Efficiency
• Promote passive design strategies, ventilation, daylighting, and energy-efficient materials in non-electrical buildings
• Support incorporation of sustainable and low-carbon construction materials where applicable
Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain up-to-date drawing logs, review comments, and change tracking
• Prepare architectural sections of reports submitted to DOE, LGU, and other approving bodies
Key Qualifications*
• Licensed Architect (Philippines), with valid PRC license
• At least 5–7 years of experience in architectural design, with 3+ years in infrastructure or industrial projects
• Familiarity with renewable energy facility design is a strong advantage
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and design review software (e.g., Bluebeam, Navisworks) is a plus
• Strong knowledge of local building codes, fire safety, and structural coordination
• Excellent communication and coordination skills
