WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We seek a highly creative Apparel Materials Designer who excels at problem-solving and is committed to achieving exceptional design and material solutions. If you have a desire to enhance the consumer experience on and off the court through performance-driven, trend-aware materials, we want you on our team. Your role will also involve establishing emotional connections to materials through storytelling and pushing the boundaries of sustainable design.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
In this position, you will create innovative concepts and material designs across a variety of Nike products. You will enhance new technologies that introduce unique benefits and seasonal stories. Your ultimate goal will be to achieve product excellence by collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders throughout the product creation process, turning visions of Nike's future offerings into reality. You will stir creativity focused on sustainability, utilizing consumer insights to guide your designs, and embedding cultural relevance to differentiate us from competitors.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
You will work closely with a diverse project team, including engineers, researchers, scientists, marketing professionals, product testers, sustainability experts, and materials developers. You'll also collaborate within the broader design community, mentoring fellow designers and sharing your expertise. This position reports directly to the Apparel Material Design Director and does not entail direct reports.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's Degree in Textiles, Materials, Apparel, or a similar design field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 8+ years of experience in designing and developing innovative apparel, textiles, or related products.
• Ability to create and define design direction and material toolkits for product collections.
• Proficient in translating consumer insights into impactful product solutions and narratives.
• Experienced in creating inspiration and concept presentations, along with mood boards for seasonal directions.
• Capable of building 3D and hand-crafted mockup samples.
• Adept at presenting new insights or seasonal concepts to both small and large audiences.
• Organized, self-sufficient, and able to manage multiple seasonal projects with various timelines.
• Strong communication skills for smoothly interacting with manufacturing partners to ensure design intent and material execution.
• Proficiency in Adobe software, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
• A deep understanding of the Apparel Creation process is a plus.
• A genuine passion for design.
