Job Description

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is seeking an Analyst for Green Financial Systems in London. The role involves integrating the Green Economy Transition into banking operations, leading project delivery, and supporting green financial product development. Key responsibilities include project structuring, due diligence, and policy dialogue with local authorities. Candidates should have a relevant degree and experience in green finance or related sectors.
Purpose of Job The Analyst will be responsible forintegrating the Bank's Green Economy Transition (GET) approach intoBanking operations. Reporting to an Associate Director in the GreenFinancial Systems team of the Climate Strategy and DeliveryBusiness Group, the role includes taking on responsibility foreffective leadership of GET delivery via financial institutions,including Paris Alignment and Climate Corporate Governance at thetransaction level and including all aspects of technicalcooperation management, policy dialogue activities, and capacitybuilding. As such, the Analyst will be competent in undertaking alltasks related to EBRD project life cycle development andimplementation, including project origination, structuring,execution, monitoring, technical cooperation, and donor financing.As needed, the Analyst will support other special projects relatedto greening the financial system. Accountabilities &Responsibilities • Work as a supporting project team member todevelop new green financial products and contribute to all otheraspects of project structuring and execution, includingimplementing and monitoring. This includes a focus on thedevelopment of the Green Trade Finance Programme. • Undertakemarketing and business development efforts in the relevant sectorand countries to build reputable market contacts to develop dealflow and cross selling of the Bank's competencies. • Supportidentification and structuring of Green Economy Transitioncomponents for EBRD investments, including the associatedimplementation and operational risks, focusing on Green andSustainability bond investment. • Support related due diligenceprocesses ensuring they meet the Bank's standards. • In cooperationwith relevant units within the Bank, support selected policydialogue projects and contribute to policy dialogue activities in aleading role or support function with local authorities andindustry associations to improve the investment climate andstrengthen the EBRD impact in the area of green economy transition.• Structure and manage outsourced assignments for technical andpolicy services to clients. These will include project preparationand policy advice, as well as the monitoring and verification offinancial institutions' use of proceeds. • Provide necessarysupport, in the form of relevant information or documentation formeetings, efforts to procure grants and technical cooperationfunds, or as part of policy dialogue efforts. Knowledge, Skills,Experience & Qualifications • Relevant degree in a technicaldiscipline (e.g. engineering or economics); a combination oftechnical and commercial skills is advantageous. • Significantrelevant, technical and commercial work experience gained from i)an engineering and/or consultancy organisation, or ii) a companyoperating in the energy, chemical or manufacturing sectors, or ii)a bank, equity fund, advisory services, corporate finance firm;with a demonstrable track record of successful project development.• Knowledge and experience with green finance initiatives, greentrade finance programmes, Green bond structuring and the financialinstitution sector. • Proven track record in managing consultantsand related assignments, including the implementation of IT-basedsolutions. • Sound understanding of business and financeprinciples. • Good understanding of policy analysis and policyformulation in the areas of climate change, resource efficiency,energy efficiency and technology transfer. • Experience in emergingmarkets, including EBRD countries of operations. • Computerliteracy and excellent written/oral communication skills in Englishare essential; other languages from the EBRD region areadvantageous. • Ability to operate consistently within businessguidelines and ethics and work sensitively in multiculturalenvironments, building effective working relations with clients andcolleagues. • Self-motivated, ability to work to and meet tightdeadlines and to plan and organise work unsupervised in a logicaland efficient manner. • Ability to communicate appropriate, conciseand accurate information in verbal and written formats, appropriateto the audience at the time.
