About the position
The Air Quality Planner - EPS I position is responsible for assisting in the preparation and development of State Implementation Plans (SIPs) and other air quality plans. This role requires extensive technical knowledge of emission sources, emission inventories, and regulatory processes, along with strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders. The position is hybrid, allowing for a mix of remote and in-office work, and is focused on improving air quality through effective planning and analysis.
Responsibilities
• Assist with the identification of SIP elements that must be satisfied.

• Collaborate with technical experts, legal counsel, and partner agencies to develop project plans for Colorado.
,
• Execute project plans, measure progress, and report to Division management.
,
• Design and prepare technical elements of ozone and other SIP revisions.
,
• Compile and analyze data related to emissions, monitoring, and modeling for developing emission control measures.
,
• Analyze air quality-related data using methods from physics, mathematics, meteorology, engineering, chemistry, and statistics.
,
• Prepare briefings, position papers, reports, and summaries of technical assessments for various stakeholders.
,
• Assist with the analysis of air pollution emission control strategies, including identification of emission points and calculation of emissions.

• Support division responses to legislative directives and engage with stakeholders.
Requirements
• Five years of experience in environmental policy, environmental studies, environmental planning, or closely related work.

• Master's degree in a relevant field such as environmental sciences, public policy, or engineering.
,
• Strong writing skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
,
• Knowledge of air quality standards and regulations.
,
• Experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
