Learn more at: https://www.env.nm.gov/As a valued new employee to the NMED, you will receive five (5) full days of leave in your leave.Why does the job exist?The purpose of this position is to support the Air Quality Bureau in collaboration with the Bureau Financial Manager and Bureau Chief by providing financial and related administrative support.How does it get done?- Manage budget projections and assist in annual budget preparation
- Prepare financial reports and complete reconciliations, including payroll, accounts receivable, contracts, and enter purchase orders and vouchers for all encumbrances in a timely manner
- Process travel requests efficiently and in accordance with policies
- Prepare and record journal entries accurately
- Oversee and support contract management and requests for proposal (RFP) processes
- Perform revenue deposits and other financial and administrative tasks in support of the Financial Services Bureau
- Work extensively in the Statewide Financial Reporting System (SHARE)Who are the customers?- New Mexicans to protect and restore the environment
- Occasional contact with external Federal, State and Local regulatory bodies as well as contractors and environmental not for profit organizations
- Internal staffIdeal CandidateThe ideal candidate will have experience in the following:
- Working knowledge of SHARE Financial or a similar financial system
- Budget projections and federal grant procedures
- Working with multiple databases and spreadsheets for financial management
- Allocate funds across multiple funding sources efficiently
- Completing reconciliations and managing contracts
- Detail-oriented and highly organized with accurate data entry skills
- Financial reporting and documentation
- Works collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders and customers
- Fast-paced environment and effectively meets deadlinesMinimum QualificationBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and four (4) years of experience in accounting, finance, economics, and/or statistical analysis. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience.Substitution TableThese combinations of education and experience qualify you for the position:

Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.Working ConditionsWork is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
