Illawarra Mercury is seeking an Air Monitoring Technician for a full-time, permanent role in Coniston, NSW. The position involves outdoor work, on-site air quality testing, and data analysis. THE ROLE
Reporting to the Operations Manager, we are looking for a practical and motivated candidate to join our field team and use their experience in stack testing/air monitoring to support our clients, perform on-site testing and collect data. This role will suit a candidate who enjoys physical work as the position involves lifting heavy equipment and a considerable amount of travel to perform testing (travel allowance provided).
Key Responsibilities
• Measure and perform air quality tests & manages field samples.
• Complete associated preparation, cleaning, maintenance & calibration of equipment.
• Analyse air quality data.
• Troubleshoot testing issues.
• Summarise data into relevant reporting formats.
• Prepare Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s).
• Depending on level of experience – manage clients, implement job lifecycle, and participate in tenders.
Essential Experience/Knowledge
For candidates to be considered, they must have:
• 3+ years relevant work experience in stack testing and air monitoring assessments is required.
• A relevant tertiary qualification is beneficial but not essential.
• Knowledge of testing methods, equipment use, data collection and some understanding of client requirements and job lifecycle.
• Knowledge and understanding of underlying principles of air monitoring. Accreditation of QSTI is highly desirable.
• Understanding of analytical principles, air monitoring analysers and associated technology.
YOU MUST ALSO BE
• A team player, with attention to detail and good communication skills
• Self-motivated, and able to work independently
• Comfortable with Microsoft Excel and data management
• Of a scientific mind with strong critical-thinking and analytical skills
In Addition, The Successful Candidate Must
• Have a willingness to travel (estimated at an average of 8 nights away per month)
• Have a valid drivers licence (probationary licence is acceptable)
• Be comfortable with working at heights
• Able to climb 12 sets of stairs and/or climb a 30m cage ladder.
• Have a general level of fitness and the ability to lift loads of 25kg.
It is also essential that candidates are willing to expand their knowledge of environmental testing and keep abreast of new trends and regulations in the industry.
The salary range for this role is $73,000 -76,000 and is dependent on relevant experience.
