Energy Alternatives India is offering an AI for Biotech & Bioeconomy Internship in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Candidates should be Computer Science Engineering students available for a full-time, in-office internship from April to May 2025. AI and Biotech are the two industries that are likely to completely disrupt the way we live, work and grow. While the potential of AI is already well-known, that of biotech, especially synthetic biology (synbio) is much less obvious. But it has a potential as high as that of AI to make a dramatic difference to our world.

Interestingly, these two high-impact sectors have a lot of intersections - thus resulting in the fast-growing niche AI for Biotech. At EAI, a leading climate tech consulting firm, we are keen to leverage to provide consulting and research support to clients in India and global in this exciting intersection of AI for Biotech.

To support out efforts, we are looking for a couple of interns who have the intellectual ability and passion to contribute to this exciting, high-impacty domain.

Do you have a strong background or interest in one or more of the following: AI, neural networks, machine learning, bioinformatics, synthetic biology/genetic engineering, bio-engineering, microbiological techniques? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you as an AI for Biotech Intern at Energy Alternatives India!

Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:

1. Learn about AI algorithms & frameworks that are currently used in biotech.

2. Undertake research into the various applications AI in biotech that are commercialized or are close to commercialization

3. Evaluate prominent companies in India and globally that are providing critical AI & ML solutions for diverse biotech and bioeconomy domains

4. Deep dive into specific AI applications for bioenergy & biofuels, bio-based wastewater remediation, plant-based protein and meat, bioplastics & biochemicals, bio-based construction materials, and sustainable agriculture & forestry.

5. Evaluate AI based biotech solutions that can make a significant difference to sustainability, clean energy and climate tech

5. Conduct research and analyses to identify new opportunities for businesses in this exciting sector.

6. Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in AI and biotech to contribute innovative ideas.

Other Requirements:

1. Those who have a large appetite for reading and understanding emerging concepts, are confident of their intellectual abilities to analyze complex solutions, and hence are willing to work REALLY hard.

2. While a background in AI or in biotech will be useful, we are fine with considering those who fulfil criterion 1, even if they don't have these backgrounds.

3. As this is a multi-disciplinary field (AI & Biotech) and an emerging one at that, candidates who are confident of, and enjoy, interacting with senior scientists and industry professionals will do a great job.

4. Candidates who consider this to be an exciting domain, are passionate about such high-potential areas and are hence are willing to put in time and efforts even outside the office hours will do best for this type of blue-sky research and analyses internship.
