About the position
The Agricultural Resource Conservation Specialist I position is an entry-level role focused on learning and applying soil and water conservation principles to support the Chesapeake Bay restoration and protection efforts. The role involves close supervision and technical guidance from experienced conservation planners and aims to develop skills in creating Soil Conservation and Water Quality Plans (SCWQPs) for agricultural landowners.
Responsibilities
• Develop or revise a Soil Conservation and Water Quality Plan (SCWQP) for agricultural landowners that addresses resource concerns and meets guidelines set by MDA or NRCS.

• Meet planning goals by developing SCWQPs for cropland, pastures, and headquarters acres in alignment with WIP III planning goals.

• Participate in training to learn necessary principles and skills for identifying resource concerns and developing SCWQPs, aiming for NRCS Level I Planner Certification.

• Assist agricultural landowners and operators with MDA, NRCS, and partner incentive programs by informing them of eligibility requirements and completing necessary forms.
