Job Description
The US Navy Reserve is hiring an Aerographer's Mate, responsible for predicting weather and oceanographic conditions to support Navy operations. Duties include collecting and analyzing data, issuing forecasts, and maintaining meteorological instruments. The position offers a $20,000 signing bonus, comprehensive benefits, and educational opportunities. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, at least 17 years old, and have a high school diploma. This role requires military service and is based in Middletown, DE.
ABOUT
We can’t control the weather. But our Aerographer’s Mates can predict almost every detail to make sure Navy forces succeed in any physical environment. As an AG, you are the expert in meteorology and oceanography. You’ll use skills in science and math to calculate weather patterns, analyze data and distribute forecasts to ships and squadrons around the world, providing accurate measures of air pressure, temperature, wind speed and sea state. As an Aerographer’s Mate, you’re not just a “weatherman”– you’re an integral member of the Information Warfare Community, aiding us with critical knowledge in any battlespace.
The mission of the Navy Reserve is to provide strategic depth and deliver operational capabilities to the Navy and Marine Corps team and Joint forces, in times of peace or war. Navy Reserve Sailors seamlessly support and actively aid that mission, all while continuing to lead their own independent lives in the civilian world.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As an Aerographer’s Mate, you’ll supply important environmental information that impacts Navy missions of all types. You will perform duties that may include:
• Collecting, recording and analyzing weather and oceanographic information
• Making visual and instrument observations of weather and sea conditions
• Operating meteorological satellite receivers
• Interpreting satellite data, radar imagery, and meteorological and oceanographic codes
• Preparing up-to-date weather maps and oceanographic data
• Issuing weather forecasts and warnings
• Providing weather/oceanographic briefings
• Using, testing, calibrating and performing minor and preventive maintenance on meteorological instruments

EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES
Navy Reserve Sailors continue to hold educational opportunities through Tuition Assistance, DANTES and their post 9/11 or Montgomery GI Bill. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
• U.S. citizen or equivalent
• High school graduate or equivalent
• 17 years of age or older
General qualifications may vary depending upon whether you’re currently serving, whether you’ve served before or whether you’ve never served before.
This job requires military service with a contract as a commissioned officer in the Navy. The application is for a specific position within the Navy.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Serving part-time as a Navy Reserve Sailor, your duties will be carried out during your scheduled drilling and training periods. During monthly drilling, Sailors in the Navy Reserve typically work at a location close to their homes.

Pay: $24.00 - $37.00 per hour
