Job Description

Fuse LLC is seeking an Executive Fellow to support the County of San Diego in implementing agricultural initiatives from the Climate Action Plan. The role involves developing plans to enhance climate-smart practices, coordinating incentive programs, and improving access for underrepresented producers. Key responsibilities include stakeholder engagement, program evaluation, and strategic project management. This is a full-time position based in Los Angeles, CA.
Advancing Regenerative Agriculture for Climate Resilience

FUSE is a national nonprofit dedicated to increasing the capacity of local governments to work more effectively for communities. We embed private sector executives in city and county agencies to lead projects that improve public services and accelerate systems change.
Program Overview

The County of San Diego (COSD) is working to develop and implement multiple agricultural-related activities identified in the COSD's Climate Action Plan (CAP), which will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase carbon sequestration, improve soil health, and strengthen local food systems. The FUSE Executive Fellow will support and lead the development and implementation of a program that expands access to climate-smart agricultural practices for producers, coordinates an incentive program to encourage agricultural producers to transition to more energy and fuel-efficient equipment, and promotes resources and programs for reducing the use of synthetic fertilizers and increasing alternative manure management methods.
Key Responsibilities
• Review findings from staff's outreach and engagement efforts and summary documents to understand current needs.
• Develop a comprehensive implementation plan that includes administrative systems, incentive structures, and outreach strategies that reflect the needs of the region's diverse producers.
• Identify opportunities to improve access for producers who have been underrepresented in past initiatives.
• Support stakeholder engagement and new funding opportunities to ensure long-term success.
Deliverables
• A roadmap for scaling the program over time, aligned with the CAP's 2030 and 2045 goals.
• Milestones, roles, and responsibilities for successful program implementation.
• Recommendations for program monitoring and evaluation.
Requirements
• Synthesizes complex information into clear and concise recommendations and action-oriented implementation plans.
• Develops and effectively implements both strategic and operational project management plans.
• Generates innovative, data-driven, and result-oriented solutions to complex challenges.
• Communicates effectively verbally and in writing and excels in active listening and conversing.
• Fosters collaboration across multiple constituencies to support more effective decision-making.
• Establishes and maintains strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, both inside and outside of government, particularly community-based relationships.
