Candidates should have a relevant degree and 3-5 years of experience in product design. The role emphasizes hands-on learning, student engagement, and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
About the position
The Sustainable Product Design and Innovation (SPDI) Program at Keene State College is seeking an engaging adjunct faculty member to teach one in-person course for the Spring 2025 semester. The courses available for teaching include Product Design Principles, Product Design III, or 3D CAD using SolidWorks. The program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in product design, emphasizing human-centered design principles and sustainable practices. The facilities include well-equipped prototyping and maker-oriented labs, allowing students to explore their interests through open-ended design projects utilizing both classic and digital manufacturing methods. The course Product Design Principles (IISPDI-151-01) focuses on the interdisciplinary integration of human, ergonomic, and aesthetic needs with technological and production methods. It covers topics such as the human/object interface, product form, innovation, redesign, and sustainable design principles. Students engage in research product cases, reflective writing, sketching, and hands-on projects to emphasize design methods. Product Design III (SPDI-352-01) is the third course in the Product Design series, requiring advanced knowledge of computer-aided design and manufacturing. This course involves specific design projects that include design research, ideation, design detailing, product specifications, prototype fabrication, and evaluation. It is structured as a lecture/lab format and may be repeated with the instructor's permission. The 3-D CADD course (SPDI-221) teaches graphic representation of objects intended for manufacturing using SolidWorks software. It covers parametric solid modeling of parts and assemblies and creating orthographic view drawings. Previous experience with Windows, Orthographic Drawing, and 2D CAD is expected for students enrolling in this course. Keene State College is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, encouraging applications from individuals who can support the college's mission to help students become responsible global citizens. The college values diversity, equity, and multiculturalism as essential elements of academic excellence and seeks faculty who are dedicated to mentoring and preparing students to engage with diverse communities.
