Job Description
St. Olaf College is hiring part-time Academic StoGrow Student Farmers (Tier I-III) to learn organic farming and grow crops for campus food services. Responsibilities include planning, planting, and maintaining crops, organizing events, and developing business plans. Candidates should have a strong interest in farming, good communication skills, and the ability to work in teams and independently. This position is on-site in Northfield, MN.

Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):
The STOGROW farmers learn about organic farming methods and best practices in order to grow vegetable crops to be sold to the campus food service. The one acre farm enables students to experiment with different crops and develop plans to maintain/improve soil fertility as well as maintain a manual for future farmers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop plan for planting crops * Organize volunteer days
• Pull weeds * Organize Fall Farm Festival
• Develop business plan with food service * Till soil
• Identify plants * Water plants as needed
Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)
• Strong interest in farming * Dependable and punctual
• Strong written communication skills * Strong verbal communication skills
• Able to work in a team environment * Able to work with minimal supervision
• Experience with hand tools small machinery (tiller)
