Wood Sourcing Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a strategic and passionate Wood Sourcing Manager to join our dynamic team!

About the Role: The Wood Sourcing Manager at Ashley Furniture Industries, LLC is responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective sourcing, planning, and procurement of wood materials used in the manufacturing processes. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the availability of quality wood materials while maintaining cost targets and adhering to sustainability standards.

Key Responsibilities:
• Sourcing Strategy Development:

Develop and implement a comprehensive sourcing strategy aligned with the company's objectives, considering quality, cost, lead time, and sustainability.

Identify and evaluate potential suppliers ensuring they meet the company's standards and requirements.

Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms.
• Supplier Management:

Cultivate and manage relationships with existing wood suppliers, fostering a collaborative and mutually beneficial partnership.

Monitor supplier performance, assessing their adherence to quality, delivery, and sustainability standards.

Conduct periodic supplier reviews to evaluate performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Supply Planning and Demand Forecasting:

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather demand forecasts and develop the procurement strategy accordingly.

Monitor market trends, economic factors, and other variables that impact wood sourcing and implement appropriate adjustments in the sourcing plan.
• Inventory Management:

Develop and implement inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels while minimizing holding costs.

Regularly review and analyze inventory data to identify potential risks or opportunities and take necessary actions.
• Cost Optimization:

Continually evaluate and negotiate pricing with suppliers to ensure competitive costs while maintaining quality standards.

Identify cost-saving initiatives and implement strategies to generate cost efficiencies in wood sourcing operations.
• Compliance and Sustainability:

Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, certifications, and sustainability standards related to wood sourcing.

Develop and implement programs and initiatives to promote sustainable practices within the wood supply chain.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Forestry, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus but not required.

Proven working experience as a Wood Sourcing Manager or a similar role, preferably in the furniture or wood manufacturing industry.

Solid understanding of wood species, grades, and market dynamics.

Knowledge of the environmental impact and sustainability practices within the wood industry.

Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.

Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities.
