DEPARTMENT: Natural Resources- Wildlife

JOB SUMMARY:

The Wildlife Technician position will primarily be working on a wildlife research project related to mountain goats and other alpine wildlife in the North Cascades. Aspects include strenuous hiking, overnight camping, trail camera deployments, mountain goat surveys, as well as data collection, management, and analysis. Primary duties will consist of day-hiking or overnight-backpacking to remote areas of the North Cascades to deploy trail cameras. This technician may also assist on other projects related to ungulate research, biodiversity monitoring, and habitat restoration. Natural & Cultural Resources are seeking highly motivated candidate with field-based experience that are pursuing a career in wildlife management or other natural resources fields.

The Seasonal Wildlife Technician is a full-time, four (4) month contracted position. Working occasional weekends, 10–12-hour days, consecutive overnights in a backcountry setting.

COMPENSATION: $23.25 hr.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Bachelor’s Degree in an Environmental field, with at least two years of completed coursework related to Wildlife Biology, Natural Resources, or a related field.

MINIMUM RELATED EXPERIENCE
• Six (6) months of experience in environmental or ecological field work.
• Six (6) months of experience in field data collection and management.
• Six (6) months of experience in backcountry navigation, backpacking and/or mountaineering.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES
• WA State Driver’s License.
• Must adhere to the Motor Vehicle Regulation (Abstract Required)
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a seasonal contracted position up to six (6) months.
