Job Description

The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is hiring four seasonal Wildlife Technicians I for the Utah Lake Wetland Preserve from May 1 to August 30, 2025, with possible extensions. The role involves wildlife habitat improvements, equipment maintenance, and working outdoors in various conditions. Applicants must be 18+, possess a valid Utah driver's license, and pass a background check. Housing is not provided, and the position is not remote.

The Utah Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife Resources, has four seasonal positions (no benefits) available at the Utah Lake Wetland Preserve in Springville, Utah. This appointment will last from approximately May 1 to Aug. 30, 2025, with the possibility of an extension. Housing is not provided.

Examples of duties
Assist in the operation of the Utah Lake Wetland Preserve and other conservation lands in the DWR’s Central Region. Duties include implementing and supervising various wildlife habitat improvements, such as controlling noxious weeds, maintaining equipment and facilities, constructing and maintaining fences, irrigating, operating and maintaining farm machinery, and handling wildlife associated with waterfowl banding efforts. Additional duties may be assigned as well.

Job requirements and skills
Applicants must be 18 or older, have a valid Utah driver’s license at the time of employment and pass a criminal background check. Successful applicants must possess good organizational and communication skills, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team (with occasional supervision of work crews of up to 20 individuals). They should have experience operating ATVs and four-wheel-drive vehicles, using power tools, and towing and backing trailers. Successful applicants must also be willing to work outside in adverse weather conditions, and be physically capable of lifting 50–100 pounds. Work schedule is from Monday to Friday, with occasional night, evening and weekend work.

Applicants must be willing to work in an outdoor setting, and work occasional weekends. Applicants must successfully pass a criminal history background check upon hire.
