Job Description
Copperhead Environmental Consulting seeks Seasonal Wildlife Technicians for the 2025 field season, primarily from April to October, with potential winter extension. The role involves assisting scientists in data collection and equipment maintenance for various projects, mainly related to bats. Technicians must be prepared for extensive travel (80%-95%), work primarily at night, and adapt to changing schedules. The position is based in Paint Lick, KY, and is not remote.

Copperhead Environmental Consulting expands our team annually with multiple Seasonal Wildlife Technicians from April – October, with the possibility to extend into the winter months. We are currently seeking candidates for the 2025 field season.
Wildlife Technicians assists Scientists with collecting data, research, conducting routine equipment maintenance/testing, and performing basic data entry while working in the field on multiple types of projects but will be predominately involved in bat related projects.
Essential Functions
Technical
• Basic understanding of scientific principles.
• Assist with collection of data and performing basic data entry.
• Assist Scientists with the maintenance and care of field data, specimens, and samples.
• Assist with routine equipment maintenance and testing. Assist with transporting equipment to job site as well as setting up and breaking down equipment.
• Assist with literature and /or data searches as well as basic administrative duties including, but not limited to, database updates.
• Utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working in the field. Assist with ensuring all proper PPE and field gear is available for projects.
• Prepared to be away on locations for up to two weeks at a time.
• Comfortable with working primarily at night in potentially adverse conditions.
• Adapt easily to rapid changes in scheduling due to field work and/or project needs
• Makes valuable contributions to the team.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts, both verbally and in written form.
• Other ad hoc duties as assigned.
Project Management
• Understand the scope of services as it relates to assigned tasks and communicated by project team.
• Completes tasks on or before due date.
• Meet designated deadlines. Alert supervisor if unable to meet deadline(s).
• Provide status updates on assigned tasks as directed.
Client Service
• Interact professionally both internally and externally.
• Advance a conservation ethic, inspire biological curiosity, and drive environmental change.

Requirements
• 1 year experience or must be working towards or hold an Associate’s degree or higher
• Must be able to work outdoors, sometimes in extreme and undesirable conditions
• Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds and carry heavy equipment long distances in rugged terrain
• Previous field experience with bats, mist-netting, and/or acoustic monitoring preferred
• Pre-exposure rabies vaccination preferred*
• No one will be permitted to handle bats without the pre-exposure vaccination.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license
