Job Description
Aspen Environmental Group is hiring a Wildlife Biologist or Botanist in Southern California. The role involves conducting biological and botanical field surveys, monitoring, writing technical reports, and participating in interdisciplinary projects. Location: Southern California
Aspen Environmental Group is seeking a highly motivated Biologist in southern California.
Education
• A bachelor’s degree in biology, botany, ecology or a related field (master’s degree preferred)
Key Responsibilities
• Biological field surveys, botanical field surveys, field monitoring and reporting.
• Construction monitoring and reporting.
• Writing and editing technical reports and regulatory applications.
• Participating in interdisciplinary teams for watershed assessment, resource inventory, impact analysis, and natural resource management planning projects
• Working effectively in both field and office environments.
Qualifications for Success
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly the ability to produce high-quality written reports.
• Relevant experience with California and southwestern ecosystems and knowledge of local southern California flora and fauna.
• Skills in MS Office, CRAM, ARC GIS and GPS data collection.
• Ability to travel regionally as needed. In addition, as this position could involve field work to remote areas, the applicant must be able to travel to and work in rugged terrain during inclement weather.
• Experience in project permitting, impact assessments, proposal preparation, environmental planning and biological delineation/mitigation preferred.
• Experience with local, state and federal wetland permitting programs preferred.
• Experience with CEQA and NEPA document preparation preferred.
• Experience with construction monitoring and compliance reporting, preferred.

Aspen offers a wide range of benefits and a competitive compensation package. The salary range for this position is $25-$31 per hour commensurate with experience.
