Job Description

Environmental Consulting & Technology is seeking a Wetland Scientist based in Ohio to assist with natural resource projects involving wetlands and permitting issues. The role includes fieldwork, project planning, and technical support, requiring significant travel across the Midwest. Candidates should have a relevant degree and experience in wetland delineation. The position emphasizes organization, collaboration, and safety, with expectations for high utilization and participation in team activities.
About the position

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Wetland Scientist to join our Natural Resources team to assist project managers with natural resource-based projects involving wetlands, threatened & endangered species, and water resource permitting issues. The ideal candidate will be based in Ohio and must be willing to participate in weeklong (or greater) fieldwork across the Midwest for at least two weeks per month during the field season. Successful candidates must be highly organized, motivated to learn, and able to navigate various complex projects. In this role, you will perform fieldwork, planning, scheduling, and provide technical support for services related to wetland delineations, natural resources inventories, permit compliance, regulatory support, and other environmental surveys. The position requires travel, including multiple days of in-and-out-of-state overnight travel. You will provide task assistance to project managers, meet deliverable schedules, schedule staff for projects, and adhere to budgets. Additionally, you will support project pursuits through proposal development and collaboration, stay current with federal and regional regulations, develop agency relationships, and represent ECT as a professional expert. You will also participate in team building activities, including internal training, quality review, and mentorship. The role requires you to work independently, problem-solve, navigate, and learn new and challenging project tasks while collaborating with the larger team to schedule project tasks. Maintaining a utilization of 85% is expected, and you will foster an environment emphasizing safety awareness and the safe performance of your work while contributing to a positive, professional environment.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Sciences (or similar) with 2-5 years relevant work experience.

• Experience related to wetland delineation required.
,
• Strong technical writing skills and QA/QC of data and reporting experience required.

• Must be self-motivated with sound professional judgement; able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently with little direct supervision.

• Attention to detail, excellent verbal and technical written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience in botanical surveys, threatened and endangered species surveys, native vegetation identification, and state and federal environmental permitting experience preferred.

• Renewable energy experience is a plus.
,
• Previous consulting experience preferred.
,
• Experience in state and federal permitting desired.
