The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a Waterways Conservation Officer Manager for the Northwest Region. This full-time position involves assessing training needs and developing programs for law enforcement staff. The role requires travel, including overnight stays, and may involve working evenings, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must have four years of experience in fisheries or boating safety work, including two years in law enforcement, and possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

This position assesses the law enforcement related training needs for supervisory staff, field officers, and deputy officers and develops, tracks, and documents in-service training programs to meet the needs of the PFBC's Bureau of Law Enforcement. This position is responsible for the selection, training, and retention of WCO cadets and functions as the Bureau's overall training officer.

There will be travel required with this job, including overnights, particularly when a training school is in session. The job will often be Monday through Friday, however there will be times when the need arises to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must be willing to travel, including overnights.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
• Full-time employment.
• Work hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Workdays will vary Sunday - Saturday.
• Travel required. Must work some weekends, evenings, holidays and other odd hours.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
• Four years of experience in fisheries or boating safety work, which includes two years in a law enforcement capacity.

Necessary Special Requirements:
• Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.

This position is not subject to the promotion provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.

You must be eligible for selection in accordance with merit system employment regulations.

• Reassignment ( Only current civil service employees in the same agency who hold the same or similar job title, with the same maximum salary and comparable minimum qualifications, will qualify for reassignment.)

Promotion Without Examination (PWOE):
• Class Restrictions for Promotion Without Examination Only - You must have or have held regular civil service status in one of the following classifications:
• Assistant Regional Supervisor
• Waterways Conservation Officer
• Waterways Conservation Officer Special Investigator
• Employees who previously held regular civil service status in the job title of the position being filled are also eligible for promotion without examination.
• The promotion without examination requirements are issued in accordance with merit system employment regulations.
• Meritorious service is defined as (a) the absence of any discipline above the level of written reprimand during the 12 months preceding the closing date of the posting, and (b) the last regular or probationary performance evaluation showing an overall rating of satisfactory or higher.
• Applicants must have a minimum of one year in the next lower classes by the posting closing date with no break in service.
