Overview

RES is seeking an experienced Restoration Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to some of the nation's most significant stream and wetland restoration projects, hydraulic and hydrology investigations, and sustainable stormwater management initiatives. We are looking for someone in Sacramento, CA or Klamath Falls, OR to work in either a hybrid or remote setting.

This Mission: As a Restoration Engineer, you'll be part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team engaged in projects from conception through long-term monitoring. This comprehensive involvement enables our team to develop innovative solutions and apply cutting-edge restoration techniques.

What your day-to-day might look like?

Design & Engineering (60%)
• Conduct engineering analysis (hydrodynamic modeling, hydrology, sediment transport, etc.)
• Perform 3D modeling and design using AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Develop ecosystem restoration design plans, technical specifications and cost estimates
• Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining exceptional attention to detail

Field Operations (20%)
• Conduct geomorphic and ecological site assessments
• Execute mitigation crediting field protocols and fluvial geomorphic/hydraulic surveys
• Collect and analyze field data to establish baseline conditions and identify design constraints
• Provide construction oversight and monitor restoration success
• Travel to project sites (occasional overnight stays required)

Technical Documentation (20%)
• Prepare design reports, mitigation plans, and regulatory permit applications
• Develop cost estimates, bid documents, and construction specifications
• Write proposals and post-construction monitoring reports
• Create construction oversight documentation

Qualifications

We would love to talk to you if you have many of the following:
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (water resources, environmental, or ecological focus)
• 2-5+ years of experience in ecosystem restoration design
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, and HEC-RAS,
• Experience with field survey and data collection techniques
• Knowledge of fluvial geomorphology
• EIT Certification

What Will Make You Stand Out
• California PE license
• Experience with regional regressions, curves, and reference data in stream restoration
• Expertise in design discharge, channel cross-section, profile, and planform evaluation
• Proven ability to develop ecological restoration construction plans and cost estimates
• Strong background in H&H modeling
• Knowledge of Clean Water Act and environmental regulations
• Experience with mitigation banking

Salary: $70,000 - $107,122.79
