Job Purpose:

Water conservation is a significant concern in Colorado, and Resource Central's popular Slow the Flow program has been instrumental in conserving water for twenty years, saving over 170 million gallons of water. The Water Conservation Associate will play a crucial role in the program by conducting sprinkler system checkups and providing simple recommendations to reduce water consumption on lawns. This field-based role entails daily travel to appointments from home and delivering exceptional customer service. The position commences on June 3, 2024, and is anticipated to continue until August or September 2024. Compensation includes $18.50/hour, mileage reimbursement, cell phone stipend, paid training, and paid sick leave.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Conduct sprinkler system checkups at residences, businesses, and other properties
  • Travel to assigned daily appointment locations to minimize commute times
  • Test sprinkler systems, gather data, and adjust sprinkler heads for improved performance
  • Program sprinkler control clocks for efficient watering schedules
  • Educate homeowners and business owners on outdoor water conservation best practices
  • Participate in meetings in person, via Zoom, and over the phone
  • Support other Resource Central programs as required
  • Uphold a strong sense of diversity, equity, and inclusion

Qualifications:

  • Passion for aiding individuals in water conservation
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to maintain a positive demeanor
  • Minimum age of 18 years upon start date
  • Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, reliable automobile access, and smartphone
  • Successful completion of background check and driving record evaluation (if offered a position)
  • Fieldwork primarily in the Front Range area
  • Ability to travel to various cities, including overnight stays (travel pay and accommodations provided)
  • Physical ability to lift 30 pounds, walk continuously, kneel, lift, and bend repeatedly
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Additional Information:

  • Experience in fieldwork, landscaping, sprinklers, or sustainability is advantageous.
