About the position

Anaergia is seeking an Assistant Manager for the Waste Water Treatment Plant and Dewatering System at the Rhode Island Bioenergy Facility. This role is crucial for supporting the safe and effective operation of the facility, which is a part of Anaergia's commitment to providing sustainable solutions for clean energy production and waste resource conversion. The successful candidate will engage in a blend of engineering principles and hands-on fieldwork, collaborating closely with site maintenance and operational staff to ensure optimal plant performance. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for overseeing the start-up and shut down of the plant, managing power outage situations safely, and adhering to all safety rules, codes, and regulations. This includes the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and handheld gas monitoring devices. The role requires maintaining a clean work area to prevent trip or slip hazards and monitoring operating equipment to adjust controls as necessary to meet performance goals, particularly in methane capture rates and plant runtimes. In addition to operational responsibilities, the Assistant Manager will collect samples for analysis to assess operational efficiencies and identify areas for improvement. The role involves investigating problems, recommending repairs, and mitigating process risks while ensuring chemical consumption remains within acceptable limits. Daily inspections and audits will be part of the routine, along with supporting maintenance activities and coordinating with vendors for necessary repairs and parts procurement. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of PID control systems and be able to respond to alarms and shutdowns promptly. The position requires 24/7 availability to assist shift employees and maintain unit uptime, emphasizing a culture of safety and environmental compliance throughout the facility.

Responsibilities
• Support the safe and effective operation of the Waste Water Treatment Plant and Dewatering System.

• Manage plant start-up, shut down, and power outage situations safely.

• Adhere to all plant safety rules, codes, and regulations, including PPE usage and gas monitoring.

• Maintain a clean work area free of trip or slip hazards.

• Monitor operating equipment and adjust controls to meet performance and production goals for methane capture rates.

• Ensure safe movement of chemicals and plant machinery.
,
• Maintain plant uptime and availability through effective SCADA operation and timely job order allocation.
,
• Collect samples for analysis to determine operational efficiencies and necessary improvements.
,
• Identify opportunities to improve plant operations and reduce risks.
,
• Investigate problems and recommend or perform repairs and enhancements.
,
• Mitigate process risks and manage chemical consumption effectively.
,
• Provide relevant information to the plant operation manager for daily logs or reports.
,
• Utilize general plant operation skills with respect to pumps, blowers, and compressors.
,
• Promote a safe work environment aiming for zero incidents and injuries.
,
• Conduct daily area inspections and fill out checklists.
,
• Support maintenance activities as needed.
,
• Coordinate with vendors and identify maintenance requirements.
,
• Enter and track orders in CMMS and complete preventive maintenance and work orders.
,
• Identify failure points and procure correct spare parts accordingly.
,
• Respond to alarms and shutdowns in a timely manner.
,
• Mobilize onsite for troubleshooting and equipment repair.

Requirements
• College Diploma in Engineering or Science related field preferred.
,
• 1-3 years' experience with SCADA, waste handling, water processes, anaerobic digestion, and bio-gas generation.
,
• Experience in wastewater or bio-energy plant operations, particularly anaerobic digestion and RNG upgrading.
,
• Oil & Gas experience is preferred.
,
• Heavy industrial plant experience is beneficial.
,
• Moderate to advanced maintenance skills required.
,
• Ability to promote a safety culture within the team.
,
• Flexible, positive, and proactive attitude is essential.
,
• Strong team collaboration skills are necessary.
,
• Flexibility to work shifts and patterns is required.

• Good communication skills are essential.

• Advanced computer skills are necessary.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience with anaerobic digestion and RNG upgrading or similar gas processing systems.
