About the position
The Wildlife and Fisheries Technician Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations on multiple Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) in central Louisiana. This role involves supervising staff, managing habitat activities, and providing data for wildlife management and research programs. The supervisor will also engage in construction and maintenance tasks, train new technicians, and collaborate with various stakeholders to support wildlife conservation efforts.
Responsibilities
• Supervise and participate in daily operations on 4 WMAs in central Louisiana.

• Provide data to biologists for management and research programs.
,
• Supervise construction and maintenance activities on Department properties.
,
• Engage in habitat management activities including planting food plots and conducting control burns.
,
• Supervise and participate in the collection of wildlife species for management and research.

• Train new technicians on equipment use and maintenance.
,
• Make recommendations for equipment purchases and work procedures.
,
• Transport injured or nuisance animals and collaborate with landowners and agencies.
Requirements
• Three years of experience in wildlife or fisheries management, research, or conservation.

• Experience in forestry, land management, agriculture, or environmental science.

• College training in relevant fields can substitute for experience.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience with heavy mobile equipment operation.
