The Naff Foundation in Mbita, Kenya, offers a volunteer opportunity at its Organic Farm & Eco-Lodge. Volunteers will engage in sustainable farming activities in exchange for accommodation and meals. Tasks include planting, harvesting, and farm maintenance. The role also allows for cultural experiences, including cooking classes and exploration of local attractions. This position is open to volunteers from all countries and does not require a degree.
Volunteer Opportunity at Naff Foundation Organic Farm & Eco-Lodge in Mbita, Kenya

Are you passionate about sustainable farming and eager to contribute to a community-driven initiative? Join us at the Naff Foundation in Mbita Town, located on the shores of Lake Victoria. We are dedicated to organic farming and promoting eco-friendly practices within the community. Our farm grows a variety of crops, including dragon fruit, Maize, Beans, Green Vegetables and Papaya.

As a volunteer, you will receive accommodation and meals in exchange for your help on the farm. Tasks may include planting, harvesting, farm maintenance, and learning about sustainable farming practices.

In your free time, you'll have the opportunity to explore the stunning surroundings. Nearby, you can visit the Ruma National Game Park, home to diverse wildlife and breathtaking landscapes. You can also take a boat trip around Lake Victoria, explore Mfangano Island, and discover its rich culture and natural beauty. Birdwatching at the lake is a must-do activity!

We also offer an exciting opportunity to learn about Kenyan cuisine and language exchanges and participate in local cooking classes as part of your volunteering experience.

Please note that volunteers will be required to pay for the entrance fees to the Ruma Game Park and Lake Victoria tours, including the boat trip to Mfangano Island.

During your visit and stay at Mbita, you will learn:

Swahili and DhoLuo (Luo) language basics

Daily life, customs & traditional practices

Water Bus tours and a visit to the nearby game parks and Islands including Rusinga

Luo/ local food, clothing & beadwork meanings

Conservation practices
