Valent U.S.A. LLC is hiring a Vice President of Sustainable Solutions to lead sustainability initiatives across North America. This role involves developing a long-term sustainability vision, collaborating with marketing, and ensuring alignment with Sumitomo Chemical's direction. The VP will manage a sales team, develop strategies for revenue growth, and engage with various stakeholders. The position can be performed remotely or from the San Ramon office.
About the position

Valent U.S.A. LLC is seeking a Vice President of Sustainable Solutions to lead the corporate and commercial sustainability vision, strategy, and initiatives across North America. This role can be performed remotely or from the home office in San Ramon, CA. The Vice President will be responsible for developing a long-term sustainability vision that aligns with the direction of Sumitomo Chemical and creating regional strategies to support sustainability goals. This includes generating industry awareness and support for the Valent portfolio, which focuses on the benefits to people, planet, and productivity. The position requires close collaboration with the marketing team to evaluate opportunities and develop strategies that create downstream demand based on portfolio fit and grower solutions. The Vice President will work closely with the VP of Agricultural Sales, the Business Manager of Valent Canada, and the General Director of Valent de Mexico to ensure a balanced channel strategy and key grower engagement that meets product and share growth targets. Additionally, the role involves collaboration with the Senior Director of Field Technology to foster cross-functional collaboration between commercial and technical teams. The Vice President will also be responsible for developing sales incentive plans and targets to promote Valent Sustainable Solutions, while interacting with Sumitomo Chemical to support global initiatives. The principal responsibilities include attaining or exceeding annual revenue and profit targets linked to the Valent Sustainable Solutions portfolio, contributing to plans that support working capital objectives, and serving on the global SSBU team directed by Valent BioSciences. The Vice President will guide the sustainable solutions portfolio plans and sustainability initiatives across North America, lead and coach the Valent Sustainable Solutions Sales Manager and the team of 13 Sustainable Solutions Sales Specialists, and manage group operating expenses in accordance with the annual plan. The role also involves engaging with the sustainability team to review goal tracking and provide direction to accomplish departmental goals, as well as developing comprehensive business plans for vertically integrated and corporate farms that influence key segments.

Responsibilities

• Interact with Sumitomo Chemical to support global initiatives.

• Attain or exceed annual revenue and profit targets linked to the Valent Sustainable Solutions portfolio.

• Contribute to plans supporting working capital objectives established by VUSA leadership.

• Direct and guide sustainable solutions portfolio plans and initiatives across North America.

• Lead and coach the Valent Sustainable Solutions Sales Manager and Sales Specialists.

• Manage group operating expenses in accordance with the annual plan.

• Engage with the sustainability team to review goal tracking and provide direction.

• Develop and execute business plans for vertically integrated and corporate farms.

Requirements
• BA/BS in business administration, agricultural related science or equivalent; MBA preferred.

• 15 years related experience; 10+ years of progressive management experience in commercial and customer planning.
,
• Leadership experience related to sustainability strategies and biological solutions.
,
• Strong leadership, relationship-building, initiative, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
,
• Integrity, problem-solving, forecasting, strategic and financial planning skills.
,
• Excellent oral, written, and group communication skills.
,
• Strong computer skills and ability to engage across function teams.
